Staying at the Complex Residence right now at the University of Ottawa. For those I have not personally told, I am here attending the annual SPNHC & CBA-ABC Biodiverstiy Conference that’s being held here for a few days. It’s funny that I am staying at the same place as I did back in Grade 8 for our graduation trip. One change though, I am staying in those single residence rooms with no air conditioning and sharing washrooms while the others are staying in the nice suites.

It’s not all that bad. I’ve been slightly complaining how I don’t have that experience living on residence, well, now I do. It’s interesting, it’s nice and has it’s annoying sides. I do have to say though, what on earth is wrong with the beds here. My bed is so high!  And same with the front desk counters! What are you trying to say about height?

There are quite a few interesting botany talks. I do regret not taking more botany related courses because I can barely understand some of them. They then sound like they are droning on and on to me, I get bored, I get tired, I start falling asleep. Not a good thing to do in front of the speaker and sitting right in the middle also. I try and position myself right behind the person in front of me so it wouldn’t be so obvious. It’s kind of hard when I have to keep repositioning because the person in the front keeps moving. I don’t realize until I wake up.

Other than that, I have been soaking up what Ottawa has to offer at Byward Market. I spent a huge chunk of time there yesterday and the day before that. Last night we at a pub and it was definitely not patio weather. It went from spitting rain to aggressive vomiting. All our food was wet and we eventually migrated inside. I had a Irish Smoked Salmon Platter. I liked the little fried capers on top. Finished the night with a Ferro Rocher Gelato at a shop across where we ate.

My photos are taking an extremely long time to be uploaded on flickr but I will update this post with them.
