Just received my Bose Around-Ear Headphones in the mail today. It’s refurbished but I got them with an awesome sale. So far, it sounds, looks, feels just as good as a brand spanking new one. Although there as been complaints about its construction, it seems it’ll be okay if take extra good care of it. Sound is awesome. Good bass and literally feels like you’re beside the singer. Sexy. Finally, quality listening for my ears.

The seventh must fall !

Anyone that has taken at least one music harmony class, you’ll know what I’m talking about. I’m finally making progress in piano theory as I’m taking Grade 4 (Intermediate) Harmony and History this summer. Yes, everyone drones on about having to go to school everyday and the fact that we spend about 4 hours doing homework (for those who actually do it), but I rather like it. I’ve made big improvements in basic harmony progressions, which makes me wonder why I didn’t pay more attention to it back in Grade 3. How I dreaded those dominants sevenths and now there’s the leading note seventh chord and secondary dominants. All the effort spent on doing homework at Robarts have really made me get a better grasp of these basic resolutions. I find Grade 4 history more concentrated on analzying the actual pieces rather than learning the biography of the composers. Definitely much more exciting since I get to really listen to different aspects of the piece. When I stepped foot into those classrooms, the thing that immediately that caught my attention was how the teachers had a starking similarity to other teachers I know. (more…)

One of my favourite ways to spend my mornings, playing the piano after waking up. Been practicing only the First Movement of Beethoven’s Pathetique Sonata and quite happy how it is slowly turning out. My tremolos are ten times better then when I first started out. My hands have grown accustomed to it and the fact that I am able to control my wrist movement a lot better and not get tired is definitely helping me increase my speed. I think I need to whip more discipline on myself in practicing piano especially since I’m not seeing my teacher for two months. Either she’ll do it, or I’ll do it. I think I’ll choose the latter. It wasn’t until yesterday in English class, when I borrowed Natasha’s ipod, did I realize just how much I missed old school pop music. Strangely, she had loaded up lots of backstreet boys music. Apparently, backstreet boys already have a new album out. This just shows how little I’ve followed up on them and the rest of those boy bands I used to sing to as a ‘little girl”. Back in the day when everyone was crazy about Spice Girls, Backstreeet Boys, O’Town, N’Sync, Wave, Sugar Jones, and etc. Feeling nostalgic and what not, I dug up some of those music in my hard drive and started watching music videos of them on youtube. I must say, I miss some of those bands. All thanks to Natasha I’ll probably indulging myself in some old school music for the next few weeks. (more…)

Nothing beats studying for math with some lit candles and nice old Charlie Brown Christmas Jazz songs.

Ever since I looked up “Those who fight” on youtube, I just can’t get enough of that song. Now I completely want to neglect the other songs that I’m practicing on the piano and just work at this one. Thanks a lot Ryan, now I feel addicted. I haven’t dwelled into that gamer side of me for a long time.

Gaming song + piano = an “uber” excited Yi-Min who will plough through learning the song. (more…)

One of my favourite songs from Jay Chou, 不能说的秘密(a secret cannot be told). Personally, I liked the movie, I blame all the piano playing in it since I’m really into it myself. Without further rambling…click more for the lyrics.
